Dubai: The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) in Dubai is bringing back its summer campaign for a second year, encouraging students in Dubai to try something new each week as part of its ‘#8WeekStreak’ initiative.

The campaign will run from July 8 to August 30. Designed to promote well-being and the love for learning, students can participate in the #8WeekStreak campaign from wherever they are — whether they are in Dubai or holidaying around the world.

To participate, students — or their parents — have to post pictures of themselves doing a new activity on Twitter or Instagram using the #8WeekStreak hashtag. Activities can range from learning to play a new instrument, volunteering for a good cause, trying a new sport, or making a new friend.

The KHDA website also offers daily suggestions for the duration of the eight-week campaign for students who are looking for inspiration.

Dr Abdulla Al Karam, director-general of KHDA, said: “Summer holidays are a perfect time for students to continue challenging themselves by developing new interests or pursuing their passion. Students will also learn to harness the positive power of social media by sharing what they’re learning with the wider community and inspiring others to do the same.”

All students from Dubai schools can take part in #8WeekStreak, regardless of their age or where they are during the summer. Pictures can be shared on social media by the students themselves or by their parents. Participants also stand to win weekly prizes, as well as one grand prize for a student who posts for eight consecutive weeks.
