With Oman’s vast educational development, the country is witnessing a continuous increase in the number of students enrolling in Omani-based institutions, and across the world. Keeping this in mind, OITE Trade Fairs is proud to announce that Oman’s landmark event for global higher educationGHEDEX will take place from 20-22 April 2015 at the Oman International Exhibition Centre, under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE).

GHEDEX 2014 showcased over 157 international and local universities and colleges from 21 countries. Educational Institutions from the UAE, Australia, USA, Canada, UK, Malaysia, Turkey, Ireland, and other parts of the world showcased over 2,500 academic courses to approximately 14,000 visitors. The event saw exhibitors generating unprecedented on-the-spot applications and garnering back-to-back student enquiries with the highest probabilities of conversions. Several leading universities and academic institutions pointed out the positive impact of the event on their brand strategy and in establishing strong relations with target audiences, particularly parents and students across the region.

Currently in its 16th consecutive year, GHEDEX 2015 is a great opportunity for international universities, colleges and academic organisations to interact,recruit and connect with students, parents, officials and academic representatives from the region. The event has enjoyed continuous success while establishing itself as an excellent platform for public and private universities and reputed colleges to promote accredited courses and enroll both Omani and expatriate students. GHEDEX showcases a wide array of diverse international study options in higher education for students, young professionals and academic organisations.

OITE Trade Fairs has already confirmed the support of the Embassy of the USA, Muscat; Education USA; AMIDEAST; British Council; UK Trade and Investment; and Enterprise Ireland for GHEDEX 2015, who are all recommending leading US and UK universities and academic organisations to participate and capitalise on the ever-increasing footfall of students seeking higher education opportunities abroad during GHEDEX.

External and internal scholarships contribute in a significant way to the Sultanate’s economic growth. A major aim of the Oman Government is to ensure that students take programmes in areas relevant to the Sultanate’s job market. Over 29,600 Omani students benefit from government scholarships for higher education in each academic year. Omani students now have more opportunities to study abroad with MoHE awarding 1,643 scholarships in 2014-2015 in 13 countries. The countries which are on the list of scholarship programmes this year are the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Malta, Ireland, Poland, Austria, India, Jordan, Malaysia and Holland. Omani Students may discover these lucrative scholarship options offered by MoHE at GHEDEX 2015.
