Municipality working with universities across country to weave course on comprehensive design into architecture programmes.

Dubai: The Building Licensing Department of Dubai Municipality, in coordination with universities across the country, is looking to launch a project to add a specialised course focusing on comprehensive design and the need for such design criteria to architecture programmes at universities.

The course, which will be added to university programmes for students of architecture, seeks to address needs of all categories, including People of Determination and the elderly.

The move is part of the municipality’s efforts to achieve the vision of the wise leadership and is in line with the efforts of the Government of Dubai towards an inclusive society in which People of Determination will be able to lead happy and comfortable lives.

“This will contribute to ensuring that future engineers are equipped with the knowledge required by the local labour market, reflecting a positive image and effective education in this field,” said Dawood Al Hajiri, Director General of Dubai Municipality.

He pointed out that the course will help students to meet the needs of all sections of the community and contribute to supporting the government’s goal of integrating and empowering People of Determination. “It is also in line with the community-based initiative, ‘My Community is a Place for All’ launched by His Highness Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council to transform Dubai into a city friendly for the People of Determination by 2020,” Al Hajiri added.
