ADEC suspends registration of new students at substandard schools

ABU DHABI, 23rd May, 2017 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Education Council, ADEC, has suspended the registration process for new students or those transferring to schools with weak and very weak performances.

This step is aimed at raising the quality of education output of the schools in the emirate. Accordingly, the registration at 26 schools have been suspended in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. This was communicated in writing in March 2017, to get the schools in question to comply with the decision.

Eng. Hamad Al Dhaheri, Executive Director of the Private Schools and Quality Assurance Sector, ADEC, said, “The suspension of registration will continue until the schools receive at least an “acceptable performance” score in the progress report during our next visit.”

He stressed that the administrations of these schools should take serious steps to improve the educational process in line with the expectations of the ADEC.
