Rubu’ Qarn Foundation holds forum with youth on their role in achieving UAE Vision 2021
Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohamed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, encouraged to invest in youth capacity building and fostering their talents which will contribute to building a positive and developed society that leads to the prosperity sought by the UAE leadership in various fields, and placing it among top countries to ensure the wellbeing, security and stability for being leaders of the future.
Out of Her Highness’s vision of young talent development, Rubu Qarn organized a special session in partnership with the Emirates Youth Council, which is part of the Council’s programme for the youth that aims to provide a platform to discuss their various concerns and challenges. More than a 100 young men and women from 18 to 30 years old participated in the discussions, along with a group of senior government officials and decision makers. The Rubu’ Qarn explored in detail the aspirations embodied in the UAE’s Vision 2021 as part of an ongoing initiative to engage the young generation to actively participate in shaping the country’s future.
The session focused on five key aspirations, namely: leadership and a sense of national responsibility, social cohesion, building a knowledge economy, a world-class healthcare system, and environmental protection. Each session highlights the importance of these goals and how the youth can develop themselves in order to become active contributors in achieving a prosperous UAE by 2021.
Jassem Albloushi, Member of the Board of Trustees, Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, said: “Our national leaders have so much hope and faith that the UAE youth of today will carry out very big tasks in the future to maintain and even exceed the achievements of our wise leaders today. This event has successfully achieved its purpose, which is to gain the youth’s confidence and express their opinions and insights regarding the country’s vision for the future. When they are able to express their thoughts, ideas and feelings, then they can easily contribute to the tasks of achieving the nation’s sustainable development goals and bring prosperity, not only amongst themselves, but for many others across the Arab World.”
Mohammed al-Kaabi, a Presenter from Dubai Media Incorporated, moderated the event. A group of senior officials and representatives of government entities and institutions involved in youth development in the Emirate of Sharjah also attended the event, led by Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Ruler’s Office; H.E. Marwan bin Jassim Al Serkal, CEO, Sharjah Investment and Development Authority – Shurooq, Jassem Albloushi, Member of the Board of Trustees, Rubu’ Qarn Foundation, and Reem bin Karam, Director of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment, and Member of the Board of Trustees, Rubu’ Qarn Foundation.
The Ruba’ Qarn for Creating leaders is a first-of-its-kind entity at the local and regional level that seeks to build and develop youth over a period of 25 years. The creation of Ruba Qarn is regarded as particularly significant because it aims to focus on multiple areas and develops a wide range of skills and capabilities that contribute to building knowledge-based generations who enjoy creating, shaping and developing the future. Ruba’ Qarn is an umbrella organisation of four Sharjah-based government entities, the Sharjah Children Centres, the Sharjah Youth Centres, Sajaya Young Ladies of Sharjah, and the Sharjah Tatweer Forum.
